FOUR CYLINDER DIVISION 2008

Please read Laird International Raceway General Rules in addition to these Divisional Rules

All rules are subject to the discretion of the Tech. official.  If it is not in the rules consider it illegal.  If in doubt ask…

 

SUPER 4’s

–        Any car with a non-stock tire including a Falcon

–        Maximum treaded tire size 60 series

–        Stock or aftermarket header style manifold

–        Exhaust to exit out passenger side behind drivers compartment

–        Muffler optional but must be less than 100 db. at 100 ft.

–        Four inch rear spoiler, maximum width not to exeed rear deck width

–        No D.O.H.C.

–        Note: all cars stock 4 or super 4 subject to the discretion of tech. officials. Weight will be added to all multi feature winners.

 

 

GENERAL

1.This division is intended to be the entry level to stock car racing SAFETY is the top priority; rules will be enforced to ensure Driver Safety
2.This is a production division; you may not change or modify the car or parts in anyway unless dealt with in these rules
3.This division will be officiated using the General Rules of Racing; it is not intended to be a demolition derby, bump and run or an enduro
4.In effort to promote an even, fun and entertaining division the track officials may impose sanctions, modify or handicap any car at any time
5.Fire retardant racing suits are mandatory. Fire retardant gloves and shoes are strongly advised
6.Helmet is mandatory, Snell 95 and must be in good repair
7.Fire Extinguisher is mandatory; 3 lbs min., ABC type, mounted securely with a quick release bracket within easy reach of the driver and track officials
8.First Time Drivers is the intent of this division therefore no driver in this division can compete in another division.
9.Drivers may not come to this division from another division; the intent of this division is to be a starting point for racers
10.Any one new or that has not raced for 3 weeks will start at the rear before regular racing rules apply
11.The audience will determine the direction that you will race, as you enter the racetrack
12.Track officials have the right to inspect any part of any vehicle to determine compliance with the rules
13.Heat Races will be a maximum of 8 laps or 8 minutes
14.Races will start the way that the feature from the previous week finished. This line up will be inverted with new comers lining up behind the cars from the previous week.

WEIGHT

1.2500 lbs minimum
2.No weight percentage rule, remember that the crowd will the determine direction raced
3.Any added weight is to be painted white and numbered (same as car) and securely fastened with 2 ½” bolts.

ENGINE

1.Three and four cylinders only
2.Stock factory single camshaft engines only; no aftermarket camshafts
3.Stock factory location with stock mounts
4.Cast iron exhaust manifolds only
5.Muffler are mandatory, converters are not, must exit behind driver
maximum noise level 100db at 100’
6.No turbochargers, rotaries or alcohol
7.NO ANTIFREEZE WATER ONLY
8.Radiator must be in stock location and must not alter the mounting surface complete with 180 degree fan shroud
9.Racing Radiators not allowed
10.Catch Can is mandatory mounted on the right side of the firewall in the engine compartment; gallon minimum
11.Fuel Pumps when electric must have a Shut Off Switch mounted on the A pillar and clearly marked in a bright contrasting colour
12.Fuel lines must be steel, return and feed

VACUUM RULE (Stock 4 only)  All stock 4’s must pull 18” of vacuum 1000 rpms.

BODY

1.1966 or newer, American or import, front or rear wheel drive passenger car, station wagon or compact truck
2.No 2 seaters or convertibles                                                                               
3.Four-wheel drive truck allowed with one drive shaft removed
4.The body must remain factory stock; spoiler and non-functional scoops allowed, no rub rails
5.Body must be complete and painted neatly with contrasting 20” numbers that are 3” thick and appear on both door and the right side of the roof to be visible from the tower
6.Driver’s name must appear over both doors
7.Any destroyed panel must be replaced with stock replacement or patch panels
8.Interior must be stripped of all flammable materials leaving the dash and interior body intact
8.Wrecker attachment point mandatory front and rear, minimum 5/16 chain
9.Doors must be welded, chained or bolted
10.Driver door interior may be cut to allow safety bars
11.All glass except windshield must be removed; windshield must be in good condition
12.Approved window net on driver door, fastened securely before entering the racetrack
13.Lexan allowed when a full cage is used
15.Exterior trim must be removed; no side bars
16.Hood and trunk must be completely stock and secured with hood pins and any latches removed
17.All holes in the firewall and floor pan must be covered
18.Rear Firewall must separate the trunk from the Driver compartment
19.Fuel Lines must not enter or run through the Driver compartment
20.Stock appearing bumper required and may be welded in place
21.Bumpers must be capped on the ends to prevent bumpers hooking together and no wider than the track of the car
22.Fenders must have stock wheel opening, no trimming for alternate rims and tires
23.Battery must be located outside the engine compartment and securely mounted in a 1/8” steel box, disconnect mandatory with easy access
24.CB Radios, PA Systems, Stereos, Musical Horns or whatever you can think of with approval is encourage to help the FUN FACTOR
25.Paint Schemes that replicate Winston Cup, Police or Cabs… are also encouraged FUN IS FIRST

CHASSIS

1.Ride Height cannot be altered
2.Wheel Base maximum 104”, station wagon exempt
3.Spindles, Coils or Leafs cannot be altered
4.Steering must remain stock
5.Shocks must remain stock
6.Suspension Parts must remain in the stock location
7.Brakes must remain stock and be in proper working order
8.Roll Cage must be steel and a minimum 4-point; 6-point is recommended
Roll Cage must be constructed of minimum 1.5” outside diameter and minimum .095 sidewall steel tubing, no exhaust or water pipe
9.Welding must be complete and proper with high penetration welds
10.Roll Cage must be welded to the frame, cars without frames must have the Roll Cage welded to 6”X6”X1/8” plate that is welded or bolted to the floorpan using a double plate under the floor or welded to an angle welded to the sub frame
11.Driver Door must have a minimum of 3 side crash bars welded to the Roll Cage
12.Door Plates must be a minimum of 18”X 24”X1/8” steel plate welded to the roll cage
13.Foot Plates must be a minimum of 10”X30”X1/8” steel plate welded to the floor
14.Drive Shafts must have front and rear hoops and be painted white
15.Seat must be an approved aluminium race seat securely fastened to the roll cage
16.Seat Belt must be a Race Approved 5 point harness with a quick release lap belt; coded and dated, 5 year maximum
17.Seat Belt must be securely mounted to the frame or the roll cage
18.Fuel Cell is recommended but not mandatory
19.Fuel Cells or Marine Tanks must be mounted securely to the trunk floor with a minimum of two 1’ X 1/16” straps in each direction, bolted through the floor using double plates or between the frame rails strapped in such a way to provide for safe race conditions
20.Bottom Draw Tanks are not allowed
21.Stock tanks are allowed that are ahead of the rear axle

RIMS & TIRES

1.Stock OEM Rims & Tires max. 70 series with 300 wear rating
2.Steel Rims only
3.Replacing Aluminium Rims, any steel OEM Rim allowed
4.All Rims & Tires must be the same size
